Natali Dobreva
After I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2020, I began working as a coordinator at the Institute of Contemporary Art - Sofia which is where I developed my interest in the visual arts and more specifically in its management aspect. While I was working, I had the opportunity to meet and communicate with many artists and curators – all of them with different perspectives and artistic language. This array of thoughts and strategies proved to be very beneficial for me and had an influence on my further development in the arts. This work experience although beneficial showed me that in the Bulgarian visual arts scene there is a lack of trained people in the field of management of artistic institutions. This combined with my interest in the subject led me to enroll in a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Management where a significant part of my studies was dedicated to the visual arts. The studies took place in Barcelona where the context is much different than the one in Bulgaria which gave me the opportunity to see the broad scope of activities implemented in the work of both managers and curators in the field of the visual arts.
Description of my current professional situation and my main professional goal:
I have just finished my Master’s studies and in the following months, I will be interning as a Communication assistant at the non-profit arts foundation LAS in Berlin, Germany. By doing an internship at an institution that is committed to commissioning and presenting experiences that are relevant to the local communities and to the current times, I want to explore the different ways in which visual arts can reach people and be accessible to them.
My main professional goal is to attract new audiences to cultural institutions as I believe it is vital for sustaining the cultural sector. I think that the position of Communication assistant at LAS will help me to explore this in practice.
Milena Kitipova
I’ve been working in the City Art Gallery in Plovdiv for the past 6 years. I started working there after I got my Bachelor’s degree and quicky got involved in interesting projects. At first my role was to create visual identities for the exhibitions of the Gallery and then I gradually started to take part in the organization and communication part of the projects. In 2019, when Plovdiv was European capital of culture, my responsibilities diversified and I was able to meet and work alongside a lot of interesting artists, curators and other creatives which has enriched my skills. At that time, I got my first experience in managing small groups of people. Currently I’m in the position of Chief Curator. My responsibilities at the moment refer not only to the temporary exhibitions but mainly to internal projects in the Gallery. I organize and supervise the work of the curators, coordinate tasks and projects with multiple departments within the institution and assist the Director.
Recently I got a Master’s degree in Art Management and I’m looking to continue improving my skills and abilities. I think Cultart Academy’s Visual Arts programme is a great opportunity to do so. It would be amazing to be a part of this intense course. I’m looking forward to the chance of meeting and connecting with fellow colleagues from Europe and also gaining new perspectives through the mentors’ experience.

My experience in cultural management is mainly in two organizations in the past 8 years: the first is LUCKY House of Cinema - art cinema center, where I am participating in organizing different international cinema festivals and the weekly program, focused on alternative movies - independent, European and Bulgarian ones; and Foundation Bulgarian Modernist Architecture, that I co-manage with my partner, focused on art history research and promotion and education of wide audience of Bulgarian art and architecture history in the Interwar Period. I have a bachelor's degree in Art History and Art Management from New Bulgarian University (Sofia), and currently finishing my Master's degree in Comparative art studies, writing my thesis. Among my goals is expanding Bulgarian Modernist Architecture with better and larger activities, and this is why I want to participate - to gain more experience in current curators' practices in Europe, to help my work in the Foundation.
Ana-Maria Sotirova
My experience in cultural management so far includes the organization of the International Portrait Film Festival (IPFF), a passion project dedicated to the art of cinema, the work of film artists from all over the world, and the exploration of the notion of 'portrait film'. This, I would say, is my current professional situation - looking for ways to expand the IPFF, its philosophy, its audiences, and its team. IPFF's third edition is planned for November 2022. We are currently accepting short films through our Open Call for submissions.
I have also worked on other festivals: RADAR Festival Beyond Music (Varna, Bulgaria) and Moving Body Festival (Varna, Bulgaria). My education is in the humanitarian field: I have a BA in Film (University of Reading, UK) and an MA in Film Studies (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands). I would love to acquire knowledge and experience in the exciting field of cultural management from professionals and firsthand, as it is essential for the organization of a cultural event that is every film festival. This is precisely my reasoning for applying to Cultart Academy's program for Visual Arts.

Svetla Tsenovska
bachelor’s degree in “Culturology” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and my secondary education at the National High School of Ancient Languages and Cultures, located in Sofia city. The knowledge I have acquired so far has developed my interests in the field of applied culture. I believe that Culture, as an interdisciplinary field that is inextricably linked to the dynamics of societies, is at the core of human life, thus it motivates me to continue my development in this area. My interest is provoked by my desire to acquire knowledge and, accordingly, to continue my development in the field of cultural management. Culture, as a set of spiritual and material values inherent in societies, develops thanks to cultural management- as an exchange of ideas, exchange of practices and traditions of cultures unknown to us. I finished my secondary education at the National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures –Lyceum to Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with an intensive study of philosophy and culture, during which time my interest in the history and theory of culture, as well as my interest in the cultural history of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and the Modern times, was formed. Thanks to my education in ancient languages, and in particular – Latin, ancient Greek and old Bulgarian, as well as my study of originals of ancient texts, my interest in preserving cultural heritage was developed.
My high school dissertation “Ancient Athenian Tragedy as a Communication Model” analyzes the role and significance of theatrical performances in Athens in the 5th century BC, as part of human communication, in which messages are formed and transmitted. In the space of the Dionysian Theater, conditions are created for the Athenian spectators not only to be transported to the past, but also to express their modern problems through the use of ancient plots, images and symbols – to reproduce the present state of culture.
In 2021 I graduated in Culturology, where I received more complex and broad education in the historical, methodological and applied field of culture. My knowledge of the traditions of societies and the functioning of contemporary culture in the context of European integration and globalization helps to analyze the historical dynamics of our culture, as well as to improve my skills regarding contextualized cultural phenomena, to analytically describe their relationships, understanding and reconstructing their specific historical meaning. The systematic body of knowledge in the field of culture is fundamental for the development of my philosophical and social thought, and at the same time gives me an overview of various methodological schools and teaching regarding the study of culture. My bachelor’s dissertation “Art, Science or Magic? Giordano Bruno’s Mnemonics in the Context of the Late Renaissance” systematizes issues related to the art of memory in antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as its culmination in Giordano Bruno’s philosophy and work in the context of the late Renaissance.
I am fluent in both written and spoken English; I am also studying Russian and Italian.
My work as an intern at the "Regional Center for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Southeast Europe under the auspices of UNESCO" was related to expanding international, regional and sub-regional cooperation by establishing contacts with institutions working in the field of intangible cultural heritage, with proper acquaintance with the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Yoana Stefanova
I am a young cultural manager with 4-5 years of international experience who is currently working as an interim in the team of the Creative Europe Culture programme. I have previous experience in marketing, event and project management within the cultural sector, which I gained during my time in One Foundation for Culture and Arts, between 2015 and 2018, and Goethe-Institut Bulgarien in 2021. Between 2019 and 2021, I organised a few exhibitions, artistic residencies, and summer schools on a freelance basis. My professional background includes a variety of different cultural and creative sectors - visual arts, contemporary performing practices, multimedia, and multidisciplinary arts amongst others. My educational background includes a BA in Cultural studies (Sofia University) and an MA in Global markets, local creativities (Glasgow University, Universidad de Barcelona, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam).
My short-term goal is expanding my network of cultural professionals and possibly initiating a few new projects in the vast field of contemporary audiovisual arts. I am a fellow of the Cultural Management Academy of Goethe-Institut Bulgarien, the European Leadership Programme of JESC, and the Salzburg Global Seminars (Cultural Innovators Forum). In addition, I am a member of the Bosch Alumni Network and the Alpbach Forum Network. I speak Bulgarian, English, Spanish, some German, and I am currently studying French.
My long-term goal is finding a way to participate more actively in international cultural relations and eventually using art and culture as a tool for increasing the quality of life on Earth. I am a strong believer that art can lead to increased equality, integration of marginalised groups, and community building through raising crucial economic, social, and political questions and offering new perspectives towards them.

Eirini Maria Nanouri
My name is Eirini Maria Nanouri and I am a 26 years old Art Historian, born in Athens, Greece, graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts Theoretical Departement. Currently, I work as the art historian, manager and curator of Kappatos Gallery and in October 2022, I am going to start my second MA in the Athens School of Fine Arts, having a specialization in the field of Theory and History of Art. My first MA took place in the University of Piraeus, based on the field of Digital Culture, Cultural Communication and Intellectual Property.
First of all, I realized that I want to be involved with the matters of Art Management since the beginning of my studies in the field of Art History. Besides the University, the main motivation that was given to me was my participation in the festival Little Paris of Athens that I started working there as a volunteer in 2016, passing through the position of the Director’s Assistant for 2 years and keeping my connection with the festival until now as an Art Curator. In this festival, I realized how much I like the field of art curating and then I have started to work as an independent art curator, organizing solo and group exhibitions cooperating with galleries and festivals. Considering the other two organizations (Hellenic Youth Participation & Pottery Workshop) that I have worked with as educational organizations that are mainly involved in arts, I could say that my whole experience is based on art management, being lucky since the beginning of my steps to be professionally involved in the matter of my studies. Nowadays, I work as the art historian, manager and curator of Kappatos Gallery, meeting the contemporary stage of Greece in the field of Visual Arts and taking the challenge to manage one of the oldest and most important galleries of Athens. In this work environment I am going to use the whole experience that I already have and also the knowledge that I received from my first MA, recommending the gallery to the Digital World. This new position was the main reason why I chose to submit my application for the upcoming master, in order to improve my theoretical skills in the field of contemporary art and art history.
Foteini Stachtiari
As an artist, I am constantly seeking new ways to explore and question the human condition, and to use art as a tool for fostering dialogue and understanding. Through my current master's studies in Art and Public Space, I am deepening my understanding of the ways in which art can be used to shape and transform the spaces we live and work.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between physical space and the digital landscape and how it shapes our understanding of reality.
In addition to my artistic practice, I have gained experience in cultural management through internships at art spaces in Portugal and Spain. This experience has sparked my interest in the world of cultural management and how it can be used to make creativity more accessible and inclusive for all, in the pursuit of a more equitable and diverse culture. I am determined to continue my exploration of these themes and to use my skills and knowledge to advance social and cultural equality through art.
Vasiliki Kagkeli
Although I don't have any experience in cultural management yet, I'm very interested in that topic because it's connected to my studies and my future job. I'm on my fourth year of studying painting and printmaking at Athens School of Fine Arts and I'd love to continue my studies later at a similar subject. This project will help a lot to learn how to manage my own work and also to open a whole new path of new opportunities. I believe that this profession is a better choice for me than just being an artist because I'm very organising and when I worked in my management positions a coped with great success. So this project is the perfect opportunity to me to combine one of my most significant characteristic with my passion and my studies in order to be improved as a professional and as a person. Also, thanks to my studies, I believe I have the right criteria to judge and make correct choices about an artistic event.
Paschalia Bora
I am a student of the Master program “Art law and Arts Management” of the International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki. Through this MA I try to combine my different backgrounds in studies of law and 3D animation. I have been trying to gain more experience in cultural field by volunteering for events too ,like Open House and Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Fair. Now I am working in post-production and video editing for a local tv channel. Concerning art, I have participated in art exhibitions and during 2021 we made a mini animation film with the class of 3D animation which played in two short film festivals in Greece. Also, I am writing now my thesis about “3D printing for Museums: Issues of Intellectual property and Sustainable Development”. Moreover, I am very interested in cultural heritage sector and in combining it with digital storytelling. Last year I participated in the Erasmus plus project “Bergolo Digitale” to digitize, archive and promote the heritage and local art of village in Italy. I would like to work in the future for a cultural institution or museum and contribute o the protection and promotion of Cultural heritage and Art. I believe that the Program of Cultart Vienna will help me gain practical knowledge and experience, especially connected to my practice in visual arts, and learn more about artistic media and management in art sector in the context of a museum.
Georgia Tsitseri
I am a student, currently in my final year of getting my integrated master, in the University of Western Macedonia. I am studying in the department of Visual and Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts in Florina, Greece. Currently, my professional situation as far as art goes mainly consists of taking part in exhibitions and working with programs and art related projects. I am also a tattoo artist. I often work with kids and young people, whether that is in the form of art related workshops, activities or daycare.
As a future goal I would like to be in a place where I can have my full professional activities revolve around art. I am very interested in participating in Cultart Academy because I strongly believe that culture is one of the biggest sources of material and inspiration for artists. Apart from stimulating creativity and connecting artists coming from different backgrounds, I feel like this program can encourage expression and exploration through critical thinking. I think it’s important for young people, artist or not, to connect with cultural, social and everyday life issues and learn how to approach them through media, art and conversation. I think with this program, valuable tools can be learned and integrated by the participants, helping them in their future professional goals and overall understanding of management and work ethic. Moreover, I think it can be a boost of confidence through training and important knowledge. Last but not least I am a firm believer that art goes beyond just creation and it should be an open space for knowledge, conversation, agreement and disagreement and of course cooperation.

Nerina Natoli
The closest experience I've had to cultural managment was in fashion's field, when I worked as stylist and I had the chance to design the entire environment: the set, the dresses, the models, the inspirational theme as well.
Coming from humanities, I've chosen architectural studies and right after I've managed to turn on my specific interests by working in various architecture studios as an interior designer in Rome. Meanwhile I've deepened my knowledge with courses and masters, training in art direction for advertisement and in fashion styling .
In the context of my last studies I've first started working as a stylist and then as a set designer for fashion and movies. I have just started a collaboration with an architectural and design studio, where I work in the fashion field and occasionally on sets.
My prime objective as a professional is to grow while mantaining the possibility to work in these different fields. My biggest passion remains designing and composing on every and different scale.
I am particularly interested in partecipating in the workshops of Cultart Academy because I belive it could be a very important opportunity, for my personal education, to meet and discuss with other partecipants. I choose to do this workshop for visual arts instead of the architectural one because I believe that this contamination between different disciplines will elevate myself into new thoughts.

Alessandrelli Claudia
I had the opportunity to develop my skills in work contexts and not as an assistant project manager and artistic director for projects in the musical and socio-cultural fields.
I was able to cultivate the writing of artistic projects in a socio-cultural key, deeply convinced of the ever stronger need that our society has for culture and comparison with it in order to find new possible points of view.
The projects in which I was able to participate range from opera to territorial redevelopment up to educational projects such as:
• International Sacred Music competition which involved the participation of more than 100 young talents from all over the world
• Public domain festival of performing and performing arts designed with colleagues under 25,
• Gaiola case history universitary gaiola development and redevelopment plan
• Sky arte festival social media manager
• Escp voluuntering tourist guide for the disabled in berlin
Interested in deepening my knowledge, I decided to undertake the specialist degree course in cultural heritage management while continuing to work in the artistic and socio-cultural field as an assistant project manager and intern coordinator for an association in the Roman territory and as a warehouse assistant at the museums in the municipality of Romei would like to partecipate for increase my knowledge and had the possibilities to discover new point of view for the arts management in an international context.

I believe that Cultural Management is the management of all cultural heritage, but not only. It also consists in protecting and preserving the assets of our cultural heritage so that they can be offered to the knowledge and enjoyment of the community. It is important to know how to manage and value the different cultures of the world, as culture allows us to reach a more satisfying existence from the intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual point of view.
I didn’t have many experiences in this field, but during my stay in Valencia I helped during the setting up of a project-room for the reproduction of artistic videos of an experimental nature produced by us students of the Videocreación class, allowing me to gain experience in the field of video installations. Moreover, during my brief experience in a consulting studio, I was able to participate in the preparation of a contest that involved the realization of an exhibition at Palazzo Massari in Ferrara.
So, given my few experiences, I would like to deepen the knowledge in this field that I consider important for my career and path of study.
My university career began at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, where I attended the course of New Technologies of Art. This allowed me to put pillars in the world of graphics, a field that I have always considered interesting and fascinating but in which I had never got involved. Getting out of my comfort zone never scared me, as I think I’m a curious girl always ready to learn.
After the first year of university I decided to apply to the Erasmus program to improve both from a personal point of view, as I had the opportunity to live alone and challenge myself in order to grow and mature, and from the formative one, as I learned from zero a language I never studied before and taken 8 exams with success.
Now I am attending a Master in Arts, more specifically the course of Visual and Innovation Design at RUFA university (Rome), that already in a short time has provided me with solid basis in the field of brand design and dynamic identity, UX/UI design, advertising communication and copywriting. In addition, the group projects allowed me to observe different design methods, transforming my creative approach.
I still don’t know exactly what to specialize in, since this year I will have lots of interesting subjects to follow, so I do not want to preclude anything yet. But my main professional goal is definitely to create lasting products/services that have value for people and improve their lives.
I believe that the participation in Cultart Academy, as well as adding value to my working career and further enriching my personal background, can allow me to improve through incitement and difficulties, putting myself in a different context from the one I’m used to, helping me to broaden my horizons and to be more responsive and proactive.
